The BN11 grant provides £22.97 per metre for planting new hedgerows with native species, helping landowners across East Anglia establish hedgerows that enhance biodiversity, capture carbon, and reduce soil erosion. At Anglian Land Services, we provide complete support for BN11 applications, managing every aspect from planning and sourcing BN11-compliant native plant stock through to professional planting and maintenance.
To qualify for BN11 funding, hedgerows must be planted between 1st November and 31st March using 2-year-old transplants in a staggered double row with a minimum of 6 plants per metre. Plants must be native species with no single species exceeding 70% of the mix. Ground preparation, weed control, protection from livestock, and ongoing maintenance are all essential requirements for successful grant claims.

For bare root hedge planting, the ideal time is between November and March, when plants are dormant. This gives them time to establish roots before the growing season starts.
